Britta J. Holloway

Not all impact is loud. Sometimes, it looks like creating space for someone to breathe, process, and feel a little less alone. That is where Britta J. Holloway does her best work.

Based in Salisbury, Maryland, Britta is a Funeral Director and Advance Planner at Holloway Funeral Home. Her work spans guiding families through the pre-planning process, supporting her team through training and development, and building strong, trusted relationships throughout her community. One of the ways she brings that care to life is something you might not expect.

One of the ways Britta has shaped her impact is by introducing Grief Yoga into her work. After becoming certified, she created a free, year-long program at her funeral home, offering monthly classes focused on breathwork, gentle movement, and meditation. It gave people another way to move through grief, one that feels approachable, supportive, and grounded.

Today, she continues that work through education and outreach, coordinating end-of-life planning sessions with assisted living communities and nursing homes. These conversations are designed to be open and pressure-free, helping families feel more prepared and at peace. She is also preparing for her third summer as a volunteer counselor at a local children’s grief camp through hospice, something she looks forward to each year.

Britta leads with mindset and intention. She believes in training yourself to see opportunities instead of obstacles and in showing up for others in a way that builds them up. She shared it best herself, believing that Funeral Women Lead encourages women to be “supportive sisters” rather than “competitive critics,” and that perspective is reflected in how she leads every day.

Her advice is one that stays with you: “The world doesn’t reward potential. It rewards those who showed up and did it anyway”.

Outside of work, Britta prioritizes balance, whether that is through yoga, coffee with friends, or time outside with her dog Piper. Her team describes her as uplifting, and it is easy to see why.

We are so grateful for the impact Britta is making in this profession and honored to spotlight her story!
